Wireless Broadband System Public Tender
Press Release
In order to stimulate Macau’s information and communications technology (ICT) development, the Macau Special Administrative Region Government initiated the “Wireless Broadband System” project. The system shall use wireless broadband technologies to provide Internet access service to citizens and tourists alike. To achieve this, the Government now invites qualified parties to bid for the public tender to provide a wireless broadband system.
The Government has decided the above service shall be provided via the IEEE 802.11 b/g (Wi-Fi) standard. The initial phase of this project shall entail the installation of Wi-Fi access points at 34 various locations including libraries, museums, parks and squares (complete list available in Table 1). The estimation for completion of this phase is at the end of this year or early next year. Following that, Wi-Fi access points shall be installed at an additional 48 locations including ports, Government service locations, activity centers, as well as additional parks and squares (complete list available in Table 2). In addition to the Wi-Fi access points, the Wireless Broadband System also contains various supporting devices and services, such as connectivity to the Internet, system management, computer consoles, uninterruptible power supplies, associated office equipment, etc.
Details of the tendering package, consisting of the Tender Procedures, Tender Specification, and corresponding annexes, can be downloaded at the DSRT website (www.dsrt.gov.mo). Contents of the tender package may be updated or changed without prior notice. Interested parties shall obtain any updated information from the DSRT website on or before June 30th.
For any questions or inquiries concerning the tendering package or tendering procedure, bidders may submit them in writing to the DSRT prior to July 3rd. The DSRT will respond to these inquiries in writing no later than July 15th. All proposals shall be submitted to the 1st floor of the DSRT no later than 5 pm on July 29th. Late submissions shall be considered invalid. The proposal will be opened in the DSRT at 3pm on July 30th. In the case of force majeure resulting in the closure of the DSRT, the above deadline for proposal submission shall be extended one working day.
